Task organisation

Task organisation FAQ

Find answers to common questions about task hierarchy and inherited properties.

Why can’t I add a task directly to a folder?

Folders contain other folders and task lists. Every task must belong to a list.

Open an existing list or create a new one inside the folder, then add the task.

What is the Inbox?

The Inbox is a built-in list for tasks that have not been organised into another list.

You can create tasks in the Inbox and move them to another list later.

Can I put a folder inside another folder?

Yes. Folders can contain other folders, allowing you to organise projects and subprojects across multiple levels.

Where can I find completed tasks?

Completed tasks remain in the Completed section of their list. See Complete, reopen, or delete a task for details.

Which inherited value is used when several folders define the same property?

The value from the closest folder or list above the task is used. A value configured directly on the task takes priority over all inherited values.

Why did a property change after I moved a folder, list, or task?

The item may now inherit properties from a different part of the hierarchy.

Custom properties configured directly on the moved item remain unchanged. Properties set to Inherit are recalculated based on the item’s new position.
